The First Warning Sign Not To Do Business with a Concern

If you call a business and instead of answering with a modicum of professionalism they answer with a dull-sounding "can" (yes), let that be a warning. Things won't go uphill from there. The rest of the business interaction will be just as unprofessional, unrewarding (for you) and unpleasant.

We bought two heaters from the Barda Bros. store on Thursday, foolishly tempted by the fact that they charged 75 NIS for a heater, while Ganon asked for 80 NIS.

One of the heaters had a broken element.

So, my husband walked back in the cold after Ma'ariv that same night to replace it.

Evidently we bought the last two the store had. They didn't have any more in stock to replace it with when my husband got there.

They promised we'd get another on Sunday.

Sunday came and went, but they still didn't have it in stock.

They promised we'd get it today.

Today came and went and there still aren't any replacement heaters.

Maybe tomorrow, no promises.

Knowing he's wrong, he then tries to put the blame for the breakage on us. If he really thought we were responsible, he wouldn't have agreed to an exchange in the first place. The accusation really got my back up.

My experience is that Ganon, hear Bank HaPoalim is a reliable salesman. We've bought many items from him over the years and never had aggravation.

The five shekels less that Barda Bros. charged has more than been made up for with trips there to no avail, phone calls and, not least of all, aggravation.

Even if Ganon asks for 5 NIS more on an item, buy from him. He can be trusted and he tends to stay well-stocked.
